Monumento a la Peseta

Monumento a la Peseta
  • Train

The Monumento a la Peseta is located in Paseo Marítimo of Fuengirola just opposite Hotel Yaramar. This monument was created by local artist and sculptor José Gómez Guerrero, who is also the author of many other sculptures located in Fuengirola like “Children at the beach” (also in Paseo Marítimo), “Monument to the ‘caballista’”, which is a sculpture of a man and a woman wearing typical flamenco dresses on top of a horse (located by the Fairground) or the “Monument to Seat 600” (in Los Boliches). Fuengirola's Monumento a la Peseta was the first one in Spain dedicated to our former currency, though nowadays there are others in some Andalusian towns like Estepona (Málaga) or Roquetas de Mar (Almería).
